Help. Love. Hope.
Our goal is simple: Go out on the street and be a good friend. Street Buddies venture into busy bar and pub districts on the weekends and take care of those who find themselves needing help. We try to follow Jesus' model by loving first and asking questions later.
Sometimes that looks like cleaning up a sick person and giving them water, other times it’s simply chatting with those around, or calling the emergency services in serious situations. If we make a difference for one single individual, then it’s all worth it. Equipped with our blue jackets, supply backpacks and smiles, we are ready to be there for the one! Our History
Street Buddies was founded in 2013 by GoSalzburg, an organization formed out of concern and love for the youth of Salzburg, Austria. Since then, teams of Buddies have been going out to the party scene each weekend, caring for the youth, building relationships, and sharing the love of Jesus in tangible ways.
After two years of success in downtown Salzburg, the vision of adding Street Buddies to other cities came into focus. In January 2016, a new local team of Buddies took to the streets of Linz, Austria. In September of that same year, a team sprang into action in the city of Gent, Belgium. The passion continues to spread, and we expect more local teams to be popping up in other cities around the world. What was started by a small group of parents is now a diverse network of people, young and old, coming from different backgrounds and countries, ready to reach out for the sake of the one.
